Regional Indaba

At the 2011 Annual meeting, the DGM expressed concern about the poor level of communication within the District and its harmful impact on the progressive development of Freemasonry. To remedy the situation, all Masters, Lodge Wardens, Secretaries and Treasurers are summoned to attend an informal regional Indaba with the aim to improve communications.

Circulars and other communications are sent to Lodges on a regular basis and it is ASSUMED that the communication is received by the WM or secretary, its contents is understood, the purpose is appreciated and if any action is needed, the form of action is understood. Of even greater importance, is whether the communication is conveyed to all members concerned.

Regional Indabas are to be convened with the aim of improving the level of communication and transparency within our District.    At the Indaba, the content of each communication sent by DGL since October 2010 will be briefly discussed and then any queries or questions from the floor dealt with.  It is VITAL for the development of our District and for Freemasonry in general, that ALL Lodges attend these Indabas.

The Regional Indabas will be held in three locations to minimise the travel of the attendees i.e.

  • Monday 11 July 2011              18h30 Lord Roberts, Somerset West
  • Tuesday 19 July 2011             18h30 Masonic Centre, Pinelands
  • Saturday 6 August 2011         13h30 Unity Lodge, Knysna

The agenda of each Indaba will be similar and Lodges can select which will be more convenient to attend.

Dress code is casual - Snacks will be provided and a cash bar available. All attending are asked to pay a minimal fee of R10/head to cover the cost of snacks.  Members other than the WM, Wardens, Treasurer and Secretary are also welcome to attend.

The WM of ANY Lodge UNABLE to be represented by at least TWO officers at one of the Indabas, is to notify the District Grand Secretary by 10 July 2011.
